Chris & Johanna;

The gauntlet has been thrown down. I will be pleased to put my Grandmother's scone recipe and preparation methods up to the test. Barring a real showdown, I'll be happy to pass along the the recipe. My grandma was born in Scotland and came to the States as a young woman to settle in Cleveland with quite a large contingent of Scots in the mid to late 1800's. They brought their baking skills with them, most notably shortbread and scones. They are a bit different than the Starbucks and Caribou fare, but as far as I know, the real deal. Next time I make them (usually a weekend thing when Gretta and Elliott are here - mid January recently) I'll do a photo essay on the process.
